Andrea Huezo

Andrea Gallelli Huezo specializes in the art and architecture of Latin America, from the Pre-Conquest era to the Modern period. Her courses examine Latin American history, belief systems, and traditions as expressed through art, material culture, and architecture, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between Indigenous traditions and imported ideas related to religion, race, gender, politics, rituals, and daily life. In the classroom, she introduces students to major artistic movements, exploring the regional and global forces that have shaped, challenged, and redefined Latin and Indigenous American art and culture. Her recent courses include Pre-Conquest, Latin America I, Latin America II, Latin American Myth & Ritual, Race & Color in Latin America, Spectacle in Latin America, ProtestArte, and Indigenous America.
