Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery acquires artwork by Georgetown Alum Julia Kwon, C’12

We are delighted to announce that work by artist Julia Kwon C’12, who majored in Studio Art at Georgetown, has been acquired by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery.

The work is from Kwon’s series “Unapologetically Asian,” which “is in response to the fact that preventative mask(s) worn especially by Asian people has largely been perceived as an unnecessary overreaction, a proof of illness, or an open invitation to commit hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
