Gerald Wartofsky

The Washington Studio School is happy to present the works of DC based artist Gerald Wartofsky from December 13, 2013 until February 1, 2014. The reception of the exhibition will take place on December 15, 2013 from 3 to 5pm. Gerald Wartofsky will give an artist talk on January 19, 2014 at 3pm.

The paintings, drawings, and pastels on view address a series of narrative themes which Geral Wartofsky has explored throughout the years.  Music, dance, literature and other sources inform his process. Much of the work in the show also consists of reflections on his wife’s persona and recent passing.  Karin was a dancer/choreographer, teacher and poet.  Part of her choreography was based on the music of Gustav Mahler which he interprets in his paintings.
