Dailey Family Travel Grants

13th Annual Dailey Travel Award 2011
This award is presented by the Robert E. Dailey, Sr. Family, benefactors of the Annual Misty Dailey Awards in the Department of Art and Art History.
The department invites applications from sophomores and juniors who will be studying abroad or undertaking research travel in the U.S. or abroad during the summer or upcoming academic year. All applicants must be declared majors or minors in studio art or art history.
The award provides a stipend of up to $1500.00. The grant may be used for travel expenses while enrolled in an academic program or to extend the length of stay for the sake of pursuing interests in the visual arts. For example, studio artists might enhance their portfolios by discovering new sources of inspiration. Art historians who plan to write a thesis might visit museums, libraries or other sites relevant to their topics.
Students who are granted the award will undertake a creative or scholarly project documented by keeping a written or visual journal. They will be required to make a short presentation about their projects to faculty and students in the department.
Submission Guidelines:
Applicants should contact a faculty member from the Department of Art and Art History as soon as possible to sponsor their proposal. The professor should be someone who knows the student's work and can provide guidance in the application process.
Please compose an essay of up to 500 words (typed, double spaced) that describes your project; where you will be traveling, how you expect to use the funds, and how your travel will benefit your educational goals.
Application forms are available at the front desk in the Department of Art and Art History, Room 102, Walsh Building.
Submit the proposal with the signature of your faculty sponsor to the administrator for the Department of Art and Art History, Room 102 Walsh, by noon, Monday, April 11, 2011.
Awards will be announced during the Misty Dailey Award Ceremony, April 27th, 2011.
