Brit Marling (C'05) receives accolades for film debut
"Another Earth," a film co-written by Brit Marling, who double-majored in Studio Art and Economics at Georgetown (C'05), opens at the Landmark E Street Cinema and Bethesda Row Cinema on Friday, July 29. Marling also plays a starring role in the film, described as "part science fiction and part love story," as a student who is involved in a life-changing car accident. The film won the 2011 Alfred P. Sloan Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and was directed by Marling's co-writer on the film, fellow Georgetown alum Mike Cahill (C'01).
The film's release marks the rise of a new talent and the success of an unusual collaboration that developed between Marling, Cahill, and yet another Georgetown alum, Zal Batmanglij (C'02). Read more about them in the following features in the Washington Post and the New York Times:
